William B. Klausmeyer, DDS

William B. Klausmeyer, DDS Dr. William Klausmeyer is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Class of 1984. Originally born in Highland Park, Illinois he grew up predominantly in Michigan, and still considers Ann Arbor to be his home town, of sorts, since he spent the bulk of his early years there. Always involved in sports and in the outdoors, Dr. Klausmeyer played a variety of sports: football, bicycling, hiking, skiing, soccer, softball and running being among his pursuits. During his undergraduate years at Michigan, he was perennially on the Dean’s list, and as a freshman won the William Branstrom award signifying his being in the top 5% of all freshmen at U of M. Dr. Klausmeyer was elected Vice-President of his class during his Sophomore year. He graduated in the top 20% of his class, and was awarded the Francis P. Vedder award upon graduation - given annually to a senior dental student demonstrating exceptional interest and skill in the area of Fixed Prosthodontics. From there, Dr. Klausmeyer accepted a faculty position at the U of M Dental School teaching Junior and Senior level students in the Crown and Bridge clinics.

Dr. Klausmeyer successfully completed the Florida Dental Board exam in December of 1984 and then decided to move there at the end of his contract with U of M in spring of 1985. After scouting locations and working for other dentists during his first year and a half in Florida - he settled on a practice in the small but growing town of Port St. Lucie. The town had fewer than 20,000 citizens at the time, and he was the 6th dentist in the city. In the 20 plus years he has been serving Port St. Lucie – the town has grown to over 150,000 people and 100 dentists!

Dr. Klausmeyer has worked constantly over the years to help provide reasonably priced care to the people – and give results one would expect to pay far more for – consistent with his training at U of M. He has kept abreast of developments in the profession, and works closely with other dentists, and specialists to assists his patients in receiving what the patient’s want, and then some. Dr. Klausmeyer recognizes that many people see a dentist reluctantly, fearfully, or sometimes not at all – and so has taken the necessary courses to offer his patients techniques for relaxation dentistry (using medication), offering the quiet world of air abrasion (dentistry without needles and drills), and always searching for alternatives for the use of scary stuff traditionally found in the dental office.

Currently, Dr. Klausmeyer has several volunteer positions he pursues: He is a member of the Martin County Park & Recreation Advisory Board. He is a State Representative for the International Mountain Bike Association. He is the immediate past Treasurer for the Haney Creek Greenway Group, and also the immediate past Secretary & Treasurer for the Airborne Mountain Bike Club of the Treasure Coast. He maintains a board position on The Ocala Mountain Bike Association as well. He hopes that through his efforts, he can help to preserve some of our world’s open spaces, enhance biodiversity, provide healthy recreation, and educate about reasonable growth.

Dr. Klausmeyer’s greatest pride is his family. His greatest joy comes from just being with the wife and kids, traveling together or just hanging out together.
